Progress & slacking!!

ok what can I say I have been slacking / neglecting the poor BMW!! Been helping out where can on other projects including a bit of vinyl wrapping , busy sourcing parts, fixing up daily drive,  had a holiday and my job has got in way making it awkward to get to the unit but progress has still been made over the last few months guess just been to lazy to post about it so heres a large update if wish to call it that :)

Parts wise now got a new bonnet , new sill and a new front valence and all my audio - Head unit, vibe components x 4, vibe 12" Sub, Sub box, 5 channel vibe amp, electronic equaliser/crossover, cables etc

Also not to forget the Mtech 2 kit has arrived!!!

Further more just bought a LSD too as is a must have really...

So from previous post i had a rather poorly door, no problem a near mint one was sourced and sanded up ready for final prep and primer

Welding time:

some of the floor was cut away and plated , mate who did it has some skills managed to shape it so all looked original rather than just filling it all in with weld

Before

After some cutting:

Work in progress by a pro (my welding is not pretty)

End result more than happy has to be said forgot to take pic but its a good job just a few more to go now :(

will edit this next week to show the workmanship as forgot to take picture !!

Then I slacked off doing some of this for the lad doing the welding:

And then some of this to not only to relax but help keep the wife happy:

Then I returned and it was Kit time , it arrived wasn't the best but wasn't the worse by far. Mate and myself starting prepping for first coat of primer:

(Not my hand the hand of a artist this kit is close to bang on just a little more work required)

Quick pic of them in primer after a hard days work:

Still got side skirts to do but will take some pics of them when they are done along with some more pics when everything out spray booth

..........

So the next day after plenty of this:

The car was moved , jacked up and put on axel stands to start work on the rear arches

In case you don't remember i had a rather nasty discovery with the rear arches and the worst one was passenger side so it started off looking like this after knocking out filler and fibreglass:

After some cutting:

(can just make out repair panel to left)

After chopping and cutting and shaping and looking and cutting we finally found useable metal and disposed of the remaining arch lip seen on the right

I keep forgetting to take photos so will get some more of the arch in its glory now before new outer arch gets welded on and inner one repaired

as for the drivers arch it isn't half bad just little bit of plating required near fuel neck on inner arch and lower outer arch, looks same as did before and took a quick video mainly to see if any damage but might as well use it and post it on here:

will get some more pics off mate and do a quick post this weekend so don't miss anything out

Right well back to work tomorrow now for 5 shifts and back on it next week will try to post more often :)

Fingers crossed..... plus a car for sale

Hi all

Firstly really got everything crossed for the car being ready for 15th September,  ready for the BMW show at Pod. Compiled a huge list and it is huge of parts required and jobs left to do!!!  This reminds me just how good my mates and family are for helping me and putting up with my lack of patience for one ;-)

Now for the main event,  been thinking of selling my Astra for a while and it's decided 2 show cars is just greedy and to be honest want a standard but still entertaining car as a daily , Astra just seems wasted :-(

Here's the advert have a nosey

Rota's & Wheels

Hi

Posting from phone so won't be the best post in the world. Due to new rota not had chance to do much at all other than work,  got round to fitting steering wheel though.  Did originally paint the center black but well had as mishap,  looks better chrome anyways ;-)

wheel was Pretty ruined on the top,  vinyl / leather had seen better days. Gave me chance to try out some plastidip equivalent to try repair it and the results are great,  strongly recommended.

Anyway popped some pics on.

Got some leave next month and big plans ; -)

Few bits and bobs ....

Well got work out the way and got a few bits in post and some stuff just hadn't had time to fit so got on with it today.

Bits took with me today:

First alcantara under steering wheel panel

Then door cards

nice and clean and new (to me) Thanks to the lad who sent me them , you know who you are :)

Sure this will help someone too:

Then onto the wheels or should i say wheel as borrowed one to trial fit. fits but will need spacers so on the hunt for a bargain

Thats all for now enjoy your weekend
